About this place
Pair Cantonese noodles with dumplings, or choose tofu noodles for a different kind of bowl. At Shokaro, the range of noodles makes choosing part of the pleasure of a meal at this neighbourhood Chinese restaurant. One diner described the Cantonese noodles as light in flavour, unlike the sweet-and-spicy soy-based thickened sauce they had expected. Another visitor found the soup gentle. The dumplings, though small, were said to be generously filled and satisfying—an appealing side to order with noodles. House-made dumplings are listed at 600 yen, and dumplings in soup at 700 yen. You can weigh up whether to have them grilled or served in soup alongside your noodles.
Tofu noodles were likened by one visitor to “white mapo noodles”. They found the dish mild in heat, with plenty of vegetables, and said its soft, thin noodles worked well with the broth. The menu lists it at 750 yen. Tantan noodles with leafy greens cost 900 yen; another diner described them as easy to enjoy, without an overpowering flavour. There are also set meals combining rice dishes with half portions of ramen. Choose fried rice, curry rice or a Chinese rice bowl; each comes with salad. The half ramen can be made with a salt-flavoured broth, making these sets a good option if you want a rice dish as your main course but would also like a little noodle soup.
For a set meal, grilled meat costs 880 yen and can be changed to ginger pork. The small side dish varies from day to day, as does the accompaniment to the daily recommended set meal. With a wide choice of dishes, Shokaro is an option for lunch or for a meal with beer and small plates. Payment is cash only. Dine-in service and reservations are available.
